We’re loving the exciting press momentum around ASK E. JEAN’s’s release. Director Ivy Meeropol appeared on Democracy Now! and penned an Op-Ed about the making and importance of the film that was published in The New York Times.

The film was chosen as an Alliance of Women Film Journalists Movie of the Week, featured in the Los Angeles Times, and highlighted by Ms. Magazine.

ASK E. JEAN also received glowing reviews from Slate and The Aisle Seat. Here are a couple of our favorite quotes:

“Ask E. Jean is about a powerful life still affected by cruelty…yet it lingers in a delightful subject, and a delightful life…Ask E. Jean returns some joy to the subject and to the viewer because it refuses to look at her life as a tragedy, no matter the outcome of that ruling. The documentary is never maudlin and doesn’t dwell on the bathetic notes that reports on gendered violence often do. Instead, Carroll gets to be who she has been for the better part of 40 years: frothy, funny, very New York, and utterly unfuckwith-able.” – Slate

“The film proves to be an inspiring portrait of the art of breaking glass ceilings…[it] celebrates the power and courage of women who speak up, knowing sexual assault is an uncomfortable topic and that there’s an overall societal desire to sweep discussion of it under the rug. Ask E. Jean is deadly serious on that count, although there are plenty of funny moments, too, courtesy of Carroll’s colorful persona. That makes it one of 2026’s most indispensable non-fiction films.” – The Aisle Seat

We hope you will have the chance to catch ASK E. JEAN in theaters and spread the word!
